CROP PLANTING INSURANCE DATES UPCOMING IN ILLINOIS

(SPRINGFIELD) The first crop insurance planting coverage dates in Illinois are this week. While most farmers consider other variables when it comes to planting, such as field conditions, ground temperatures, future weather forecasts, and more, the insurance dates play a key part in when farmers decide to plant. While the southern third of Illinois saw initial plant dates for corn begin this past Monday, April 1st, the midsection of the state’s corn coverage starts tomorrow, April 5th and the northern third begins April 10th. Initial plant dates for soybeans are tomorrow, April 5th, for the southern half of Illinois, with April 10th for the midsection and April 15th for the northern zone of the state.
