(CARMI) The investigation is continuing into a fatal single vehicle traffic crash that occurred at around 4:20 early this past Sunday morning on a Wayne County gravel road T-intersection, south of Sims. Authorities report the driver, 27 year old Nick Downen of Wayne City, was pronounced deceased at the scene. An unidentified passenger in the vehicle, who was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, walked from the crash scene to a nearby residence to seek help. The Illinois State Police Troop 9 with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and Coronor’s Office are continuing the investigation.
