EFFINGHAM COLLECTION BEGINS THIS SUNDAY

(EFFINGHAM) In recognition of February being National Canned Food Month, HSHS Home Care is teaming up with five car/truck dealerships in Effingham to “Cram the Car” with nonperishable food items, hygiene products, and monetary donations for the Catholic Charities’ food pantry. While donations for the annual event will be accepted the entire month of February, HSHS Home Care staff will cram their cars with the food items to deliver them to Catholic Charities, which serves the area counties of Jasper, Crawford, Clark, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, and Shelby. The list of suggested items for donations include boxed meals, pancake mix & syrup, jelly, pasta sauce, cereal, granola, sugar-free canned fruit, low-salt canned vegetables, large boxes of oatmeal, soap, shampoo, feminine products, & razors. Items and monetary donations can be dropped off at the HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital front lobby in Effingham from 8:00 to 4:30 weekdays, or at any of the five participating car dealerships in Effingham, Dan Hecht, Roy Schmidt, Northside, Goeckner Brothers, and Braunecker’s. Learn more on the hshs.org website by searching “Cram the Car” or call Valerie at 217-685-0702.
