(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday first Illinois Crop Progress Report for 2024. There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois last week. The statewide average temperature was 48.8 degrees last week, 2.7 degrees above normal. Illinois’ precipitation averaged 1.03 inches last week, 0.11 inches above normal. Topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies are 38% to 42% short to very short. As of Sunday, corn planted around the state reached 1% and soybeans planted also at 1%. The statewide winter wheat condition was rated at 11% poor to very poor, 25% fair, and 64% good to excellent. Farmers in our ten county area report some planting of corn occurred this past weekend with a lot of ground work and spraying up until the rain.
