(PARIS) In Girls High School Cross Country from last Thursday –
- Effingham won the 18-team invitational at Paris by beating St. Joseph-Ogden, 30-71
- Robinson was third at 89, followed by Bismarck-Henning (121) and Newton (129)
- then Charleston (141), Tuscola (180), Dieterich (192), Hoopeston (195), Teutopolis (263)
- others included Marshall, Oblong, Cumberland, Paris, Casey-Westfield, & Danville
Here’s how the top Newton runners did,
- Layna Marshall was 6th, Shay Bennett was 24th, and Avery Geier was 35th
Here’s the other top area runners
- Marshall’s Molly Ferrell won the race, followed by teammate Madeleine Fox in 2nd
- Effingham’s Emery Spicer and Baylee Summers were 4th and 5th
- Casey-Westfield’s Kayla Clark was 10th
- Robinson’s Ella Tingley was 11th
- Dieterich’s top runner was Lena Goebel in 16th place
Newton is back running this Saturday at the EIU Invitational in Charleston

- Charleston beat St. Joseph-Ogden, 67-87 to win the Doc Acklin Invitational at Paris
- Cumberland was third at 123, followed by Robinson (163) and Newton (197)
- Then Dieterich (210), Marshall (211), Hoopeston (225), Paris (233), Danville (247)
- other teams were Effingham, Teutopolis, Chrisman, Casey-Westfield, and Oblong

- Hayden Borgic was 15th, Jackson Sornberger was 16th, and Isaac Street was 45th

- Paris’ Harrison Hayes won the race
- Charleston’s Blake Homann was 2nd
