GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD

(CHARLESTON) In Girls High School Track & Field from the weekend –

The Class 1A, 2A, and 3A State Meets were held at Eastern Illinois University, with the State Finals in all three classes Saturday at O’Brien Stadium in Charleston.

CLASS 2A

Two athletes from Richland County High School qualified for the 2A State Meet, with 29 runners in the Class 2A 800 meter run, the top 12 qualified for the finals.

  • Among them, Olney’s Mackenzi Thomas (JR) finished in 8th place overall
  • Mackenzi’s time, 2:17.65, is the 2nd fastest in the RCHS record books

With 33 athletes in the Class 2A 300 meter hurdles, the top 9 qualified for the finals

  • Among them, Olney’s Brielle Seiler (JR) finished in 3rd place overall
  • Brielle’s time, 46.38, was a personal best and set a new school record at RCHS

CLASS 1A

Athletes from Newton Community High School qualified for the 1A State Meet, with 32 athletes in the Class 1A pole vault, the top 14 qualified for the finals.

  • Among them, Newton’s Camryn Martin & Karasyn Martin tied for 8th place

With 32 relay teams in the Class 1A 800 meter relay, the top 9 qualified for the finals

  • Newton’s Alaina Kuhl, Elley Bennett, Sydney Kinder, & Makayla McVicar were 8th

Six other Lady Eagles competed in six other events but did not qualify for the finals
