(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 has arrested a Hamilton County man for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol (Class 2 Felony) and for Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony) related to an ATV fatal wreck that occurred last Friday (5/24/24) in Wayne County. Currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in Fairfield, 35 year old Johnny E. Green, of McLeansboro, was identified as the driver of a Polaris Razor side-by-side when traveling westbound on a county road just over 5 miles south of Keenes, close to I-64, in rural Wayne County, when the side-by-side ran off the roadway and overturned, causing a passenger to be ejected from the ATV & pronounced deceased at the scene. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Rescue personnel assisted the State Police at the scene. Green is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
