In the Class 2A Sectional Championship Game in Greenville,
- Newton beat Gillespie, 3-2 in eight innings
Although the Lady Eagles were outhit by the Lady Miners, 6 to 3
- winning pitcher – Amelia Collins with the complete 8 inning victory
- at the plate – Sally Mahaffey had a home run and walked with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored
- Avery Mulvey had a hit and scored Newton’s only other run
- Allie Stanley had Newton’s other hit
The 28-7 Lady Eagles now head to Johnston City for a 2:00 game this afternoon, their opponent in the Super-Sectional game will be Carterville.
