(NEWTON) In Girls Junior High Basketball from this past Saturday, the IESA 8th Grade State Tournaments began with first round and semi-final action.
Here’s some results involving downstate area teams:
CLASS 1A
- Sigel St. Michael’s beat Ottawa Wallace in a first round game, 44-25
- The Sharpshooters then won their semi-final game over Carrollton St. John, 30-24
- Sigel St. Michael’s will play Washington St. Patrick for the 1A State Title tonight
- Both teams are undefeated at 23-0 and 25-0 respectively heading into tonight’s game
CLASS 2A
- Paris Crestwood won its first round game over Serena, 44-8
- The Lady Eagles then lost to Havana in semi-final action, 39-25
- Paris Crestwood, at 22-3, will play Armstrong-Ellis, at 21-1, for Third Place tonight
CLASS 3A
- Teutopolis lost its first round game to Pittsfield Pikeland, 42-19
- The Junior Wooden Shoes finish up the year with a record at 18-7
CLASS 4A
- Mt. Zion beat Granite City Coolidge in a first round game, 43-29
- The Junior Lady Braves then won their semi-final game over Mahomet-Seymour, 36-14
Mt. Zion, now at 26-3, will play Dunlap, at 24-5, for the 4A State Title tonight.
