(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois farmers, especially those growing organic crops, who are looking for alternative ways to control weeds, may be interested in attending a special field day in Indiana. The 2024 Midwest Mechanical Weed Control Field Day is set for next Wednesday, September 11th, from 8:00 to 4:00 (Easter Time), at Purdue University’s MEIGS Horticultural Research Farm in Lafayette, Indiana. The program features a trade show where companies can connect one-on-one with farmers along with educational sessions in the morning and field demonstrations in vegetable & row crops in the afternoon. Tickets are $75 each, but this year there is assistance to help Illinois farmers attend through the Midwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program. While online registration is now closed, on-site signup that morning will be available before 7:00 (Illinois time), however no lunch is guaranteed.
