(SPRINGFIELD) A new study from DePaul University and the American Psychological Association says violence and threats are causing many teachers across the country to quit the profession. Researchers surveyed thousands of educators, from Pre-K thru High School, regarding violent behavior from students before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The study found that 57% of teachers confirmed plans to quit teaching due to violence.

(SPRINGFIELD) The National Weather Service has confirmed that three (3) tornadoes, each rated EF-1, caused damage in northern Illinois last Thursday night. While one twister touched down in McLean County, near Lexington, the other two tornadoes were in Ford County. In all three events, there were numerour reports of large trees uprooted, downed power lines & utility poles, and damage to buildings. However, there were no injuries.

(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza is calling for passage of the Protect Our Letter Carriers Act, a bipartisan bill that was introduced back in March that addresses the rise in violent crime against postal carriers while on the job. According to the National Association of Letter Carriers, there have been more than 2,000 attempted and/or actual robberies and assaults against postal workers nationwide since the year 2020.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is holding an online auction this week for unclaimed property. In fact, some of the items up to grab includes a 1783 Spanish milled dollar, a 14-carat gold bracelet, various types of tools, and much more, all among hundreds of unclaimed property items to be auctioned off now through Friday. To take part in the online auction, folks are required to register with iBid or go to the Treasurer’s website.
