(SPRINGFIELD) President Donald Trump has pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, whose 14 year sentence for political corruption charges was commuted by the President during his first term in 2020. In fact, Blagojevich is now being considered to become the Ambassador to Serbia. The former Governor was convicted in 2011 on charges that included seeking to sell an appointment to then-President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat and trying to shake down a children’s hospital. Blagojevich was convicted on 18 counts.

(SPRINGFIELD) A measure that requires law enforcement to confiscate firearms from subjects of domestic orders of protection was signed into law yesterday by Governor J.B. Pritzker. Passed by the Illinois General Assembly during last month’s lame duck session, House Bill 4144, also known as Karina’s Law, stems from the 2023 shooting death of Karina Gonzalez and her 15 year old daughter Daniela in their Chicago home, allegedly by Karina’s husband. Opponents of the law say it bypasses due process rights in such a shooting.

It’s a time to made a stronger commitment to help teens and children be more aware of their online activity and to use responsible online habits.

(CARMI) A White County Judge has found the state’s Firearms Owner’s ID card to once again be unconstitutional when enforced against someone possession their firearms in their home. The case Illinois versus Vivian Brown stems from a 2017 incident where police found a rifle in her home and charged her with possessing a firearm without a FOID card. Brown’s case has been bounced around Illinois’ judicial system for the past seven years, having been in front of Illinois Supreme Court, not once, but twice, in 2020 and 2022.
