(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Employment Security has announced that nonfarm payrolls were almost unchanged in January while the unemployment rate was also unchanged in January, sitting at 4.9%. Only four states have a higher joblessness number than the Land of Lincoln. The national unemployment rate was at 4% even in January.
(CHICAGO) A new study shows that Chicago is one of the best cities in the country to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. To determine the best cities for celebrating Irish-American heritage, the personal finance website WalletHub.com compared 200 of the largest U.S. cities across 15 key metrics, ranging from Irish pubs and restaurants per capita to the lowest price for a three star hotel. Chicago was ranked as the sixth best city nationwide. The top spot went to Boston, followed by Reno, Nevada. Naperville, Illinois was tied for 21st.
(SPRINGFIELD) American rapper, singer, and songwriter Snoop Dog will perform at this year’s Illinois State Fair on Wednesday night, August 13th. Tickets for the Snoop Dog show start at $85 and will go on sale starting tomorrow at TicketMaster.com.
