(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois could receive more than $23 million from a recently announced settlement that states had with eight different pharmaceutical manufacturers. The Illinois Attorney General’s Office says that the settlement, totalling $720 million nationwide, alleges that the opioid manufacturers made the drug crisis worse than it had to be.
(SPRINGFIELD) Hospital officials in Illinois say they will have to make some difficult decisions in the next few years that could involve laying off staff, cutting back services, and maybe even closing some facilities entirely. The Illinois Health and Hospital Association says it’s the expected result of federal funding cuts built into the recently passed domestic policy bill signed by President Donald Trump. The IHHA says hospitals serving rural areas will likely be affected the most where a larger share of people are covered by Medicaid.
(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois’ median personal income for 2023 was $115,000, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau yesterday. That ranks 19th among all fifty states and is up two spots from ten years ago, in 2013, when $79,000 was the median income. However, it’s down $1,000 from ranking 15st in 2021 with the median income at $116,000 four years ago.
(SPRINGFIELD) A Boston company is relocating to Illinois, with a $46 million investment being made. The Illinois Governor’s Office announced yesterday that state incentives thru the Reimagining Electric Vehicles Illinois Act are included in the move by Pure Lithium Corporation. The company manufactures lithium metal batteries, mostly focusing on drones and defense, consumer electronics, energy storage, and electric vehicles.
