(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Police and hundreds of other local law enforcement personnel are out in extra force today and through the rest of the holiday weekend, looking for those driving impaired and not obeying the rules of the road. Along with roadside safety checks, saturation patrols, and other special enforcements, State Troopers and others are especially looking for drivers who are speeding, texting or using handheld devices while driving, and those not buckled up. It’s all to ensure safety while traveling this weekend.

While its a time to support our local businesses throughout the state, it’s also a chance for shoppers to get some really good deals. In fact, our small businesses can offer as much as, if not more than, some big retailers that many people have to travel miles to get to. Consumers spend an estimated $184 billion on Small Business Saturday.
