(SPRINGFIELD) Republican and Democratic candidates for the March 19th primary can today start filing nominating petitions at the Illinois State Board of Election’s Office in Springfield. Candidates for 118 State House and 23 State Senate seats are up for election in Illinois, plus 17 seats for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. along with 77 judicial vacancies to fill. The final day for filing nomination petitions is December 4th.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Public Health will hold a series of virtual public hearings tomorrow through Thursday, November 28th thru 30th, to seek public comment on the State Health Assessment & the State Health Improvement Plan. The two documents are components of a statewide five-year plan to improve the health of those throughout the state by addressing the priority public health issues of communities. The comments, both written and virtual, will be taken into consideration in developing the final version of the documents, which will be presented to the General Assembly by the end of the year.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Supreme Court has announced the creation of the Supreme Court Executive Committee on the Practice of Law, a new committee charged with making recommendations on issues impacting the practice of law and unmet legal needs around Illinois. The new Executive Committee, which will consist of 13 members to be appointed by the state’s highest court, will meet quarterly throughout the year, or as needed.
(CHICAGO) Ahead of Giving Tuesday, coming up tomorrow, the State Attorney General’s office is cautioning potential donors to make wise giving decisions this holiday season, making sure consumers know that their donations will be used for the intended purpose. Folks should question charities about their cause, plus they’re reminded to never pay in cash.
