(OLNEY) Local authorities have issued a “Scam Alert” to all downstate area residents. Many folks have been receiving a text message on their mobile devices that has been determined to be a scam. In general, the message is from Illinois Tollway Services, indicating that its records show an unpaid toll invoice and furthermore states that to avoid additional charges the text recipient should settle the balance by going online at illinoistollwayinvoice.com. This IS A SCAM and is simply a ploy to get your money and other personal information. The best advice from local authorities is that if you or someone you know gets such a text or message, do not try to go to the website for details, simply DELETE IT and FORGET IT.
