ILLINOIS WINTER WHEAT YIELDS PROJECTED TO BREAK RECORD NUMBERS

(BELLEVILLE) Illinois winter wheat farmers could be on track to break the state winter wheat yield for the fourth consecutive year, and maybe even hit triple digit yield numbers. Results of the Illinois Wheat Association’s (IWA) winter wheat tour this past Tuesday projected an average weighted yield of 104 bushels per acre as the tour participants split up to check 58 random wheat fields across 20 southern Illinois counties. The projected county average estimates ranged from 83 bushels per acre in Cumberland County up to 158 bushels in Gallatin County.
