(EFFINGHAM) Four people were killed this past weekend in Shelby County, after a train hit their vehicle. Illinois State Police report the collision occurred around 4:30 early Sunday morning at a rural railroad crossing, north of Effingham. All the victims were male & from the Neoga and Effingham areas. Officials said the warning lights & bells had been activated at the crossing, signaling an oncoming train. No other details are available from the State Police. Authorities say the train did not derail as a result of the crash. Emergency personnel were on the scene for most of the day Sunday with the investigation continuing today.
