ISP HUMAN TRAFFICKING ARRESTS

(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police conducted an anti-human trafficking operation in the Effingham area, resulting in five arrests late last week. Led by the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Trafficking Enforcement Bureau, the operation focused on identifying individuals seeking to engage in commercial sex acts. Those arrested include four from Illinois : 71 year old David L. Hackett of Tuscola : 50 year old Thad D. White of Cowden : 38 year old Daniel A. Bennett of Bethany : 38 year old Scott A. Grote of Centralia. The other man arrested was 32 year old Justin P. Covey of Irvine, Kentucky. The State Police were assisted by multiple Sheriff’s Departments and other law enforcement agencies in the human trafficking operation. All are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
