(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police Troop 9, based in Effingham, has announced special patrols and enforcement efforts will take place during this month of October. Nighttime Enforcement patrols will be held in Richland, Wayne, Wabash, White, Effingham, and Fayette Counties, looking for those driving impaired by alcohol and/or drugs and those not buckled up between the hours of 9:00 at night and 6:00 in the morning. Meanwhile Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols will be conducted in Jasper, Lawrence, Clay, Marion, and Hamilton Counties, looking for those driving impaired and for illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol and/or drugs. Plus Roadside Safety Checks will be conducted in Effingham and Marion Counties and Occupant Restraint Enforcement patrols will be held in Clay, Marion, Effingham, Fayette, and White Counties. Most all of the patrols are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
