IT’S ANOTHER BUSY REST OF THE WEEK

(OLNEY) The Richland County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will host a “free” Teens Teach Tech Night on Thursday night, September 18th, from 6:30 to 8:00, at the Richland County High School in Olney. It’s for adults to attend and learn the basics of using iPhones and iPads, plus enjoy some free snacks while learning. Although over two weeks away, space is limited to the first twenty (20) that register, so don’t wait to sign up. (OLNEY) The Ridgway Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society will host a presentation on how to identify challenging bird species by using field marks, habitat preference, and song identification. This free program is set for this coming Tuesday evening, September 16th, from 4:00 to 5:00, at the Olney Public Library. All area bird and nature lovers of all ages are encouraged to attend. (NEWTON) The Newton American Legion Post 20 will host a Sunday Brunch Buffet this weekend with all-you-can-eat serving from 10:00 to 1:00, including several breakfast and lunch hot bar items, a salad bar, and more. The cost is $15.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids ages 5 to 10. That’s this Sunday and every other Sunday at 108 East Jourdan Street in Newton.


(WYNOOSE) The Wynoose Chowder is this Saturday evening with food to be served starting at 4:00, featuring chowder by the bowl for $4.00 or by the bulk for $20.00 a gallon, bring your own containers, but no glass or plastic. Also available is chicken, barbeque, hot dogs, slaw, desserts, & drink, plus barbeque available for purchase by the cup or pint as well. A drive thru will be available, all at the Wynoose Community Building this Saturday evening.


(OLNEY) The Rolling Thunder Illinois Chapter 3 will host a Benefit Ride this Saturday, starting and ending at the Olney VFW. It’s registration at 9:00 in the morning with the kickstands up at 10:30, and all vehicles are welcome. The cost is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. After the 150 mile ride with stops included, it’s all back to the Olney VFW for a free will donation dinner, along with a live auction, raffle drawings, and more. While it’s all open to the public, all proceeds go to POW/MIA Awareness and to help area Veterans & families.


(OLNEY) The Calvary Baptist Church in Olney will have a pork burger sale this Saturday at the Big R Store in Olney, with serving from 10:00 to 2:00. It’s good food for a great cause.


(PARKERSBURG) All are invited to a Cruise In and Vendor Mall / Flea Market this Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00, at 111 South Elm Street in Parkersburg. If it runs, all vehicles are welcome with no fee to enter and dash plaques for the first fifty vehicles. Also all vendors are invited with no charge for a booth space. With a 50/50 drawing, The Smokin’ Pig will also be set up.


(DUNDAS) The Dundas Ruritans will have their fall chowder this Saturday with serving to start at 11:00 and continuing until sold out. It’s $20 for a gallon or $10 for a half gallon, plus baked goods will be available for purchase. A drive up service will be provided. Bring your own containers, but no plastic or glass. All at the Ruritan Building this Saturday in Dundas.


(NEWTON) The Grace United Methodist Church, at the corner of South Lafayette and West Washington in Newton will have its Annual Fall Festival Pancake Breakfast this Saturday morning, with serving from 7:00 to 10:00, all for a free will donation at the door. All invited.


(CLAY CITY) The Clay City Fire Department has its annual Fall Breakfast this Saturday morning at the Firehouse, with serving from 6:00 to 10:00 or until sold out. It’s all-you-can-eat for a donation at the door. Proceeds to help with equipment purchases and training.


(FLORA) The Flora Rotary Club is excited to host its 11th annual Shadows of Elmwood Cemetery this weekend in Flora. Starting at 5:00 both this Friday night and Saturday night, the $8.00 per person ticket sales will run through 9:00 each night at the Flora Depot, where a hay wagon will take those attending for a ride through the cemetery with skits performed by volunteers. To avoid waiting in line, Benefactor Tickets, at $25 each, will put people at the front of the line, plus for those unable to ride the wagon, two six-person golf carts will be available. Concessions will also be available for those while waiting in line at the Flora Depot. It’s the largest fundraiser of the year for the Flora Rotary to support local projects.


(OLNEY) The VFW Auxiliary in Olney will host another “taco night” this Friday night with serving from 5:30 to 7:30, or until sold out, at the Olney VFW, at 205 North Walnut Street. Also a 50/50 drawing and a bake sale with all proceeds to benefit the Shop With A Biker of Southern Illinois program. Call in orders beginning at 4:30 at 618-392-4226.


(NEWTON) The Jasper County Republicans will be selling pork burgers this Friday at the Knights of Columbus parking lot, along South Van Buren Street, in Newton, from 11:00 to 1:00.
