(SUMNER/BRIDGEPORT) The Lawrence County Longspurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host its annual JAKES Field Day event this Saturday at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds along U.S. Route 50 between Bridgeport and Sumner. Providing opportunities for area youth ages 5 to 17 to experience the outdoors through hands-on activities, registration begins at 8:30 with activities from 9:00 to 2:00, including a free lunch and prizes at the end of the day. Some of the activities include archery, air rifle shooting, firearm safety, a fishing clinic, and more, plus instruction on hunting, conservation, the wild turkey, and more. Each youth must have a release form signed by a parent/guardian with forms available at sign in, plus all parents and grandparents are invited to attend.
