(MATTOON) Officials at Lake Land College, just south of Mattoon, were a bit on edge this past Tuesday after several emergency messages were sent to the school by mistake. The college’s administration reports that while their usual Emergency Alert System test messages were sent accurately, several other messages were sent as well, including that there was a college lockdown on campus and another that a tornado was approaching the campus. The administration followed those messages up to inform the community of the erroneous nature of the second and third messages. The issue is now being investigated.
