LOCAL 2025 HARVEST ROLLING ALONG

(SPRINGFIELD) While there is no official Illinois Crop Progress Report again this week, due to the federal Government shutdown, here’s some numbers concerning the downstate area harvest, according to some area farmers in the ten county area of southeastern and south central Illinois. Farmers indicate the local and area soybean crop is nearly complete, at around 95%, with the exception of some double crop beans. Meanwhile the local and area corn crop is over two-thirds harvested, at nearly 70%, plus just about all of the intended acreage has been sown to winter wheat. With a break in the harvest now due to much needed rain, everyone is urged to continue thinking “safety first” once the harvest resumes.
