(OLNEY) There’s a winner every weekend at the Olney VFW with its next Queen of Hearts drawing, all open to the public, at 4:00 this Sunday afternoon. Following a $10 winner this past weekend, the top jackpot now sits at $2,479 if the winner is present, or half that amount if not present, plus smaller possible card winners as well. Tickets are on sale up until 3:30 Sunday. Stop by for tickets at the VFW on North Walnut Street or call 392-4226. Also get ready for the VFW’s St. Patrick’s Day Cornhole Tournament with cash prizes.

(NEWTON) A pork burger dinner fundraiser will be held this Sunday at the Scott Avenue Multi-Purpose Building in Newton, with serving from 11:30 to 1:00. Priced at $12.00 per meal, that includes a pork burger sandwich, baked beans, and potato salad, plus desserts will be available for free will donations. Either dine in or carry out with all the proceeds going to the CIY Trip for Jasper County junior high & high school students. Get tickets in advance by calling 618-783-3744 and stop by the church today thru Thursday from 8:00 to 4:00 each day.

(OLNEY) The Richland County High School Music Department will host a Sliva Dinner & Concert this coming Sunday at the Olney VFW, running from 11:00 to 1:00. While the meal will include homemade

chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, dessert, and drink, music will be provided by the RCHS Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, & Honors Wind Ensemble. Tickets will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children age 5 and younger. All the money raised will go to support the the Music Department at Richland County High School.

(NEWTON) All are invited out this Saturday night to the Jasper County Annual Shrine Dance from 8:00 on with thirteen locations available. The $10.00 per person tickets will be on sale at each site with all proceeds to benefit Shriner’s Hospitals & their care for children. The sites taking part include The Hill (southeast of Ste. Marie), Newton American Legion, BJ’s, the Sky Saloon, MVP, the Newton VFW, West Side, Hi-Benders, the Muddy Saloon, the Newton Eagles, Harry’s (Dieterich), the Blacktop (Dieterich), and West End Reception and Events with a different band playing at each location. That’s this Saturday night.

(STRINGTOWN) The St. Joseph School will have its “Bingo Bash” fundraiser this Saturday night at the Stringtown Parish Center with the doors open at 5:30 and bingo time at 7:00. Must be 21 to attend for the bingo, live and silent auctions, a wine pull, barbeque meal, drinks, and more. Call the St. Joseph School at 618-395-3081 to reserve a spot with seating limited. It’s $25.00 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Admission pays for 12 games of bingo with cash prizes. All proceeds go to the St. Joseph School. All invited. Call today.

(OLNEY) There will be 20-plus vendors on hand this Saturday at the Olney Downtown Market from 10:00 to 2:00. That’s at the VFW Hall and the First National Bank parking lot.

(OLNEY) The Olney Knights of Columbus will have another Friday night “Fish Fry” this weekend at the Olney City Park Community Building, with serving from 5:00 to 7:00, or until sold out. Open to the public, tickets at the door will be $12.00 per adult and $8.00 for children ages 12 and under. Either dine in or carry out at the Olney City Park Community Building. This week’s proceeds will go to benefit the Fall Kids Mall of Richland County.

(OLNEY) It’s another “Taco Night” this coming Friday night at the Olney VFW with serving from 5:30 to 7:30 or until sold out. Plus a bake sale and 50/50 drawing with proceeds to benefit the RCHS After Prom. The menu includes tacos, nachos, taco salads, and taco potatoes. (NEWTON) The Jasper County Law Enforcement “Shop With A Cop” program has a “fish fry” fundraiser this Friday night at the West End Event Center, at 202 Museum Drive, in Newton, with serving from 4:30 to 7:30. While folks are welcomed to dine in, they also can use the drive thru service with orders picked up outside by calling 618-689-1003. The cost is $15.00 for an all fish plate, $12.00 for all-you-can-eat, and $8.00 for a kids plate. All the proceeds go to support the Shop With A Cop program to benefit the children throughout Jasper County.

(OLNEY) The Claremont-Bonpas Fire Department and Village of Claremont will continue their Friday “Fish Frys” this weekend, with all meals served at the Firehouse in Claremont. The lunchtime serving is from 11:30 to 2:00 at $10.00 per adult and either dine in or carry out. Then it’s a dinner buffet in the evening with serving from 4:00 to 7:00, priced at $15.00 per adult, $10.00 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children age 5 and under. Plus a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds to support the Fire Department and Claremont Village Park project.

(NEWTON) It’s another Queen of Hearts drawing this Friday night at 6:00 at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton with tickets on sale up until draw time and a jackpot at $24,500. The Queen’s Menu this week is a choice of fish sandwich or shrimp with fries & baked bean for $12.00 each, with serving at 5:00. Either dine in or carry out at 108 East Jourdan Street.
