LOCAL/AREA UNOFFICIAL PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS (03/20/2024)

(NEWTON/OLNEY) Incumbent Mike Bost won the Republican nomination for U.S. Congressman for the downstate 12th District by defeating Darren Bailey by less than 5% of the vote. In Richland County, Bailey had 1,350 votes compared to 607 for Bost. In Jasper County, Darren Bailey had 1,482 votes while Congressman Mike Bost had 493.

(OLNEY) In the Republican race for the 110th State Representative seat, incumbent Blaine Wilhour easily won over challenger Matt Hall with more than 80% of the vote. As far as Richland County is concerned, Blaine Wilhour had 1,263 votes and Matt Hall had 515 votes.

(NEWTON) In the Republican race for the 102nd State Representative seat, both incumbent Adam Niemerg and challenger Jim Acklin were write-in candidates. As of this morning, the totals and results are still not available from all the counties involved. As far as Jasper County is concerned, Adam Niemerg had 1,415 votes with no write-in votes for Jim Acklin.

(OLNEY) State Senator Jason Plummer was unopposed for the 55th District Senate seat, Terri Bryant beat Wesley Kash for the 58th Senate District nomination.

COUNTY BOARD – DISTRICT 2 : Eric Spiker / unopposed (595)

COUNTY BOARD – DISTRICT 3 : Austin Francis (329) over Susan Iffert Lindley (289)

Nearly 33% of the registered voters in Jasper County cast their votes.
