(SPRINGFIELD) Applications open a week from today, February 6th, for Illinois’ new $1.5 million Farm to Food Bank Capacity-Building Grant Program, which is designed to strengthen the state’s local food system and expand access to fresh protein and produce. The program is looking for farmers, ag producers, food banks, food pantries, and community partners to apply for the grants, ranging from $1,000 to $100,000, with the goal to help build the capacity of Illinois-grown agricultural products to serve neighbors facing food insecurity, especially those who live in underserved areas.
