Olney Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony (Monday, Nov. 11)
- Parade: Line-up begins at 10:30 AM at the TrustBank parking lot; parade starts at 10:45 AM and moves west on Main Street, finishing at the Richland County Courthouse.
- Ceremony: Starts at 11:00 AM at the courthouse, featuring:
- Opening remarks
- Invocation
- Guest speaker
- Special music, including the Star-Spangled Banner, service branch songs, Taps, and God Bless America
- Special tributes like the Empty Chair Recognition, Salute to Departed Veterans by the Firing Squad, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Everyone is invited to attend this public event in downtown Olney.
Newton Veterans Day Observance (Monday, Nov. 11)
- Ceremony: Begins at 10:20 AM on the Courthouse Square.
- Free Meal: A ham & bean meal will be served afterward at the Newton American Legion Post 20.
- Flag-related activities:
- 4:00 PM: Workers will take down the flags at the courthouse.
- Saturday, Nov. 16: Volunteers meet at 8:30 AM at the Legion to fold the flags for storage.
- Saturday, Nov. 16: Flags must be picked up at the Legion after 2:00 PM.

- Closed today: City and Village Halls in Olney, Noble, Newton, and other nearby towns are closed today in observance of Veterans Day. They will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 12.
- Municipal Meetings Rescheduled:
- Olney City Council: Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6:00 PM at Olney City Hall.
- Noble Village Board: Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7:00 PM at the Noble Village Hall. Both meetings are open to the public.
- Olney Brush Dump: Closed today for Veterans Day but will be open later this week, Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
