(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : on an unanimous vote, amended the Title 17 Zoning requirement in the City’s Municipal Code, changing the distance for a cannabis dispensary from 1,500 feet down to 1,000 feet from a school or daycare facility, as recommended by the City’s Plan Commission : approved a resolution with the estimated amount of the 2025 Tax Levy, not to exceed a 4.99% increase : accepted the $759,058 bid from Kiefer Brothers of Mt. Carmel for the North Avenue Waterline Replacement Project : agreed to sell the Olney Fire Department’s 1999 Snorkel Truck to the Christy Fire Protection District for $25,000 : then agreed to purchase a used 2000 Ladder Truck for the Olney Fire Department worth $26,500 : agreed to establish new Handicapped Parking Spaces along North Walnut Street, along the east side of the Richland County Courthouse : agreed to refurbish the City’s “Welcome to Olney” signs : approved the requested exceptions for the East Fork Bass-Masters to allow additional boats for fishing tournaments on East Fork Lake : agreed to increase the City’s contribution to the Richland County Farm & Fair Association’s July 4th Fireworks Display up to $25,000 : and after a short executive session to discuss real property, potential litigation, and personnel, approved the area near the Walmart Distribution Center as the site location for possible grant funding : the Olney City Council’s next regular meeting will be November 24th, 2025.
