(OLNEY/NEWTON) With plenty of clouds for most of this last day of September 2024, we’ll have a slight, slight chance of some spotty showers or drizzle here in our downstate area, all followed by a drying sky and maybe some sunshine by sunset this evening. After some fog overnight into tomorrow morning, we’ll warm up a bit on Tuesday, before a fast-moving cold front drops across the state, bringing a brief shot of cool air and our coolest air of the fall early Wednesday morning. Then plenty of sunshine and dry conditions for the rest of the work week and into the weekend as well. Stay tuned for continued updates and always monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather information and forecast details.
(NEWTON/OLNEY) With the weekend weather, there were nearly 50 downstate area power outages between the hours of 7:00 and midnight Friday night, most of which were caused by the high winds, causing downed power lines due to blown over trees or utility poles. The area high winds were reportedly recorded between 30 and 40 miles-per-hour on average, with wind gusts measured as high as 55 miles-per-hour. While there was damage reported to area buildings and trees, authorities report there were no injuries. Regional utility crews were out most of the night into the next morning restoring power and repairing damage.
