NEW LEADERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP DISCUSSED AT THE IWA MEETING

(MT. VERNON) Membership expansion was a priority topic during the Illinois Wheat Association’s annual meeting held a week ago today in Mt. Vernon. During the annual Double Crop Farmer’s Forum, various presentations were made by a small grain breeder, plant pathologist, research associate, extension specialist, & a farmer panel, all of which ended with a question & answer session. In the IWA election of new officers, John Howell of Randolph County was chosen as president to succeed Mark Krausz (Clinton County) after a five year term. Also elected were VP Nick Frederking (Washington County), Secretary Dean Campbell (Randolph County), and Treasurer Tracy Heuerman (Effingham County). Elected to serve as new industry reps on the IWA Board were Steve Maue (Nutrien Ag Solutions) and Matt Wehmeyer (AgriMAXX Seed). Also, Siemer Milling of Teutopolis gifted $1 million to the University of Illinois to support wheat-related research over the next five years.
