NEW LEGISLATION INTRODUCED IN ILLINOIS TO ATTEMPT IN HELPING IN DEER NUISANCE PROBLEM

(SPRINGFIELD) New legislation has been introduced in Springfield with hopes to remedy the deer nuisance problem throughout Illinois. While one new proposal would allow landowners to seek compensation from the State DNR for deer-related property damages over $500, another proposal would give landowners more tools to manage deer populations on their farms, encourage hunters to pursue more antlerless deer during regular hunting seasons, and expand venison donations to Illinois food banks. So far, twelve deer-related bills have been introduced, most all of which have support from the Illinois Farm Bureau.
