(SPRINGFIELD) A U.S. House Committee is launching an investigation into Illinois and other states, seeking, among other things, documents regarding their expansion of taxpayer funded Medicaid for illegal immigrants. The Congressional Budget Office shows taxpayers spent more than $16.2 billion on Medicaid-funded emergency health care services nationwide for those now in the United States illegally.

(CHICAGO) Illinois U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth say they have both requested a meeting with the Secretary of the Navy to demand information about President Donald Trump’s plan to use Naval Station Great Lakes to house officers with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Durbin wrote in an X post yesterday that service members and American taxpayers deserve transparency in regards to this issue.

(SPRINGFIELD) Plaintiffs in the case challenging the prohibition of licensed concealed carry on mass transit in Illinois say they are reviewing their options after a federal appeals court overturned a lower court’s ruling that the law was unconstitutional. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals said the law is “well within our nation’s history and tradition of firearm regulation” and that no further changes are needed on the issue.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Board of Education is inviting school leaders, teachers, parents, and community advocates to testify at Fiscal Year 2027 budget meetings scheduled this fall. ISBE says testimony at past hearings has led to increased investments in evidence-based funding, plus career technical education and much more. The first such meeting is set for September 30th in Springfield with virtual meetings set for October 16th and 21st.
