(SPRINGFIELD) Unemployment is on the rise in Illinois. The nation’s survey giant, WalletHub, reports the state’s jobless claims last week were 13.7% higher than the week before and 39.3% higher than last year. Illinois ranks fifth on WalletHub’s list of “States Where Unemployment Claims Are Increasing the Most” throughout America.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office has ordered the Village of Forest Park and Motorola Solutions to disable data-sharing capabilities with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The state agency discovered that the technology was being used to give CBP access to license plate camera data. The Illinois Vehicle Code bans the sharing of such data with agencies investigating people based on their immigration status or abortion-related services, although most investigations deal with those illegally in Illinois.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and the Illinois Ecomomic Development Corporation (EDC) led a delegation to the Midwest U.S. – Japan Association’s Conference in Japan this past weekend. The DCEO says members of Team Illinois joined counterparts from nine Midwestern states and more than 100 Japanese corporations in an effort to strengthen investment and trade ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration in the future.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Police have issued a reminder about traffic safety around the state during the fall harvest. While farmers throughout Illinois are moving from field to field for harvesting, the respective farm equipment will be traveling statewide highways and rural roads at a much slower rate than other vehicles. All drivers should stay alert to the moving farm machinery and trucks while flashing warning lights are on & slow-moving vehicle emblems are visible. Farmers need to take time to make sure their warning lights and SMV emblems are clean and completely visible at all times.
