(CHICAGO) The Cook County Department of Public Health has confirmed the first human West Nile virus-related death in Illinois this year. Officials say the laboratory testing has confirmed that West Nile was a factor in the death of the resident in their 60’s. (SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced that $18.4 million in federal taxpayer funded grants are now being awarded to build 25 electric vehicle charging stations along interstate corridors. The Governor thanked the Illinois Attorney General’s Office for fighting to restore funding that was previously withheld by the federal government.
(CHICAGO) A northern Illinois man has been indicted on federal health care fraud charges for allegedly submitting more than $17.3 million in fraudulent claims to a private insurer. Prosecutors say the 39 year old filed false claims for two fictitious companies from 2019 to 2025, causing the private insurer to pay at least $1.4 million for services that were not provided. The Grayslake man pleaded not guilty to eight counts of healthcare fraud.
