(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Illinois U.S. Representative Mary Miller of Oakland has introduced legislation in our nation’s capitol to prohibit the mail-order distribution of abortion pills. The “Restoring Safeguards for Dangerous Abortion Drugs Act” aims to reinstate in-person medical requirements for abortion pills, mostly due to women suffering life-threatening complications from chemical abortion drugs because critical safeguards were removed.

(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker late last week announced the creation of a new group of governors impacted by the PJM energy grid operator with the goal to strengthen state representation in the decision-making process. However, during a House Executive Committee hearing held last week about proposed changes to the state’s energy policy, which could add another surcharge to ratepayer bills, therefore driving costs up even more, many state lawmakers say the hike in prices is mostly due to current state policies.

(SPRINGFIELD) The U.S. Department of Education will open the Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms this week, on Wednesday, as FAFSA is the only way to get federal aid money for higher education, including federal student loans, work-study funds, and grants. Education officials say high school seniors who complete the FAFSA forms are 84% more likely to enroll in college directly after completing high school.

(CHICAGO) An upstate lawmaker has introduced legislation which would allow candidates for public office to use campaign funds for security costs. House Bill 4131 would let state and local candidates use campaign dollars to be spent on home and office security measures.
