(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Freedom Caucus, comprised of several downstate lawmakers, says it’s time for Governor J.B. Pritzker and the legislative leaders to take the energy crisis in Illinois seriously and adopt policies that are based on the current policital realities. With downstate residents receiving their most recent utility bills with anywhere from 2o% to 40% price increases, the alarm has already been sounded that the downstate power grid may soon face critical energy shortages. Something has to be done soon in Springfield.

(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker has used his amendatory veto to correct formatting errors with legislation seeking to ensure the equal treatment of children born through assisted reproduction or from same-sex couples. Pritzker said three provisions of House Bill 2568 caused a deviation from the Uniform Parentage Act of 2017. The Governor returned the bill to the Illinois General Assembly, which will have it’s veto session in October.

(SPRINGFIELD) Applications for a third round of taxpayer-funded forgivable loans to cannabis companies opens today, on this Monday. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced $40 million in loans will be available to qualified and licensed social equity craft growers, infusers, transporters, and adult-use dispensing organizations. Applications will be accepted now through September 25th, later this fall.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Fair is continuing in Springfield as today is Senior and Scout Day with fair visitors age 60 and older admitted free with special senior activities and the tractor & truck pulls tonight at 7:30. Tomorrow is TwosDay with a $2 admission for all senior citizens and adults, along with $2 carnival rides, more livestock shows, tractor and truck pulls that night in The Arena, and on stage at 8:00 tomorrow night is Sheryl Crow with the group Passion Pit. Wednesday will be Governor’s Day with special harness racing at 11:00, the Governor’s Sale of Champions in the Coliseum, more tractor and truck pulling that night in The Arena, and on the Grandstate stage at 8:00 is Snoop Dogg along with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Plus each day of the fair, there are many outdoor activities at Conservation World, along with other live musical entertainment, & all the great fair food concessions.
