(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker’s office announced more than a dozen new bills were enacted this past Friday. In fact, aside from the Medical Aid in Dying bill, the Governor signed a total of fourteen (14) into law. One of the measures will decouple the Illinois state tax code from several provisions of the federal tax code that many say will make the state less competitive, not to mention costing the statewide taxpayers of Illinois more money out of their pockets.

(SPRINGFIELD) Convicted former ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore has joined former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan by requesting clemency from President Donald Trump’s pardon attorney. The Chicago Tribune reports that Pramaggiore has been paying lobbyists in Washington D.C. to explore “matters relevent to the pardon process.” She is scheduled to start serving a two-year prison term January 12th, 2026, for her role in the scheme to bribe Madigan.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Gaming Board is expected to consider plans for a new riverboat casino in East Peoria at its next meeting scheduled for February 5th, 2026. It was last Thursday that Boyd Gaming and Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino representatives presented their plan to last week’s meeting of the IGB, which is also expected to consider the Hard Rock Casino Rockford’s license renewal request in February. As of a week ago today, total reported 2025 tax revenue from casino gambling, sports wagering, and video gaming totaled nearly $1.76 billion in Illinois.

(CHICAGO) According to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Illinois reported 1,669 norovirus outbreaks over the past decade, placing it second in the nation after Wisconsin. In fact, the numbers show that the Illinois outbreaks led to 44,694 reported illnesses. Across the America, the most common exposure setting was long-term care facilities.
