Boys Cross Country Yesterday, Newton hosted an intersquad meet at Sam Parr State Park, featuring nine total runners, all but one from Newton. Hayden Borgic claimed 1st place, followed closely by Jackson Sornberger in 2nd. Isaac Street and Tanner Whitaker finished 3rd and 4th, respectively. Alec Bower and Levi Salyers took 6th and 7th, while Johnnie Brant and Tyler Spiker rounded out the field in 8th and 9th. The Eagles are set to compete at the Robinson Invitational next Thursday.
Girls Cross Country In the girls’ race, also held at Sam Parr State Park, Newton had a strong showing with six of the nine runners from the team. Layna Marshall took the victory, followed by teammate Shay Bennett in 2nd. Avery Geier and Lily Yager finished 3rd and 4th, respectively, while Kate Bierman and Leila Tsunekawa placed 6th and 7th. The Lady Eagles will also be running at the Robinson Invitational next Thursday.
