(OLNEY) Olney Central College is excited to announce that the OCC Community Choir will start its 15th season with rehearsals at 6:00 on Tuesday night, September 2nd. Running from 6:00 to 8:00 each Tuesday night, the rehearsals will be held in the OCC Choir & Band Room #216 on the second floor of Dr. Kent Wattleworth Hall with all high school age and older adults welcome. The only requirements are the ability to match pitch, a positive attitude, and the desire to sing. The rehearsals will lead up to the Choir’s annual Christmas Community Concert on Saturday night, December 13th, in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center, on Ruth Henry Stage. (INGRAHAM) The Annual Ingraham Labor Day Picnic & Tractor Pull is coming up this Monday in northern Clay County. With an entry fee of $20.00, a truck pull begins at 9:00 in the morning, followed by the modified, stock, and diesel tractor pulls at 1:00, including the Illinois Stock Pullers Association, the Central Illinois Tractor Pullers Association, and the Illinois Hot Farm Stock Pullers, plus Stock Farm Class and Brush Class Semi Trucks, with the gate admission at $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children age 6 to 12. Food wise, the fish dinner, at $10.00 per person, will be prepared and served by the Ingraham Firemen, with serving from 11:00 to 2:00, vegetable soup available at 4:00, either by the bowl at $3.00 each or bring your containers, no glass or plastic, with the bulk sale after 5:00 at $20.00 a gallon. (PALESTINE) The Pioneer City Rodeo and all the associated activities in Palestine and Crawford County are getting underway today and continuing through next Monday, Labor Day 2025. With the first Rodeo performance tomorrow night at 7:00, a Drone Show will also be held Friday night. Saturday starts with the Chuckwagon Breakfast at 7:00 with the Main Street Madness and the Antique Gas Engine Exhibit & Swap Meet running throughout the day from 7:00 to 4:00. The Miss Rodeo Illinois Pageant and Junior Pedal Tractor Pull both start at 10:00, followed by Lunch With The Clowns from 11:30 to 1:00. The second of three PRCA Rodeos is then at 7:00 Saturday night. The Annual Church Service is at 10:15 Sunday morning with the Miss Labor Day Pageant at 2:00 and the final Rodeo performance at 7:00 Sunday night. Everything will wrap up with the Annual Labor Day Parade at 10:00 Monday morning. Plenty of concessions, games, entertainment, & more this weekend in Palestine.
(STE. MARIE) The 188th Annual Pre-Labor Day Church Picnic at St. Mary’s in Ste. Marie is this coming Sunday with everyone welcome. The serving of Ste. Marie style chicken meals will run from 3:00 to 6:00 inside the St. Mary’s Parish Center with to-go containers. The $12 meals will consist of the chicken, potato salad, baked beans, dessert, and water, plus a half chicken is also $12.00, plus leftover chicken will be sold from 6:o0 to 7:00 in the Parish Center as well. Other food will be available from 3:00 to 7:00, including pork burgers, chips, pop, and Homewood Grill ice cream, plus kids games, bingo, big ticket, hand-made quilt, and raffle drawings at 7:00. And with live music from 6:00 to 9:00, the beer garden will be open from 3:00 to 9:00. That’s this Sunday afternoon and evening at St. Mary’s in Ste. Marie.
(CLAY CITY) The Elm River Chowder is set for this coming Saturday along the banks of the Elm River in northern Wayne County. With the vegetable prep at 7:00 in the morning, the chowder will be served at around 12:30 that afternoon. That’s by the bulk, with your own containers, but no glass or plastic, all for a donation. The chowder will also be for sale by the bowl, along with pulled pork sandwiches, nachos, hot dogs, pies, and drinks. The Elm River Chowder grounds are six miles south of Clay City off of Route 50 or four miles east of the Rinard Intersection off of Route 45, watch for signs. An over 100 year tradition, funded entirely by donations, the 2025 Elm River Chowder this Saturday.
(GRAYVILLE) The Wabash Valley Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) will present the Third Annual Winchline Windup & Winch & Antique Truck Show this Saturday at the KOA Campgrounds in Grayville. All antique trucks and winch trucks are welcome, old or new, retired or not, drive them or haul them all, plus any and all current or retired winch truck drivers, swampers, and cat skinners are welcome. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy. Food will be available for purchase on site. All are invited out to attend at Grayville.
(BERRYVILLE) The Annual Berryville Chowder is this Saturday at the Community Center just west of Berryville with serving to start at 11:00. Get it by the bowl at $3 or by the bulk at $25 per gallon, plus other food and desserts in the Community Center, plus baked goods for sale by the Amish and a basket raffle with tickets on sale. There will be free parking with a shuttle service and bring your own containers, but no glass or plastic. That’s this Saturday in the southeastern part of Richland County.
(NEWTON) The next Queen of Hearts drawing at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton is tomorrow night at 6:30, with the jackpot at $56,500. The Queen’s menu includes a roast beef & cheese sandwich or a pulled pork sandwich, both with fries, at $10.00 each. Either dine in or carry out with serving to start at 5:00. That’s at 108 East Jourdan Street in Newton.
(OLNEY) It’s another Fifth Friday Market on Main event in downtown Olney tomorrow night, from 4:00 to 7:00, on the 200th block of Main Street. The family friendly event is free of any charge, featuring live music by Nathaniel James, a kid’s area with crafts & Balloons by Kimberly, plus over 15 vendors, hot dogs & pork burgers for sale by the Chamber, and all the downtown shops will be open late with fantastic deals. All are invited to stop by before heading to RCHS for the Olney Tiger’s football opener with kickoff at 7:00 Friday night.
