OLNEY CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY MEETING RECAP – FEBRUARY 24, 2025

The Olney City Council met in regular session, addressing key city matters and approvals.

Meeting Highlights:

  • Financial & Administrative Approvals:
    • Approved the payment of all bills as presented.
    • Approved the yearly lease between the City of Olney and the Richland County Farm & Fair Association for use of Olney City Park.
  • Community & Parks:
    • Waived ball field use fees and the insurance requirement for an upcoming fundraiser.
    • Amended the City’s Park Department budget to include a $1,500 donation for tree planting & maintenance.
    • Approved a donation for parking lot improvements at Musgrove Park.
    • Authorized the sale of three city-owned lots that have been cleaned up:
      • 502 West Chestnut Street
      • 207 North Saratoga Street
      • 526 South Saratoga Street
    • Approved the request from local service groups to erect Flags of Valor and a POW Chair along Carle Trail in Olney City Park.
  • Public Works & Infrastructure:
    • Approved a payment for Sanitary Sewer CIPP Lining Rehabilitation work.
  • Licensing & Legal Matters:
    • Approved two raffle licenses as requested.
  • Personnel & Contracts:
    • After a closed session, approved Health Insurance Premium Allocations for non-bargaining employees, with an average 4% cost increase.
    • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Olney and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council for a Drug Investigator position.
