OLNEY CITY COUNCIL MARCH 24, 2025 MEETING RECAP

The Olney City Council met for its regular session, covering various city matters:

  • Financial Approvals:
    • Approved payment of all bills as presented.
    • Approved a payment to Sanitary Sewer CIPP for sewer line rehabilitation work.
  • Demolition & Property Decisions:
    • Accepted a $9,125 demolition bid from Travis Excavating for 1403 East York Street.
    • Approved a demolition lien for 614 North Walnut Street and donated the property to the Olney Fire Department.
  • Infrastructure & Public Services:
    • Accepted chemical bids for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Plant, and Musgrove Aquatic Center.
    • Agreed to dispose of old ball diamond light fixtures from Musgrove Park.
    • Approved an ordinance defining School Zones within Olney.
    • Approved a permit application for the Richland County Farmer’s Market to sell merchandise in Olney City Park.

    • Heard an update on the downtown sewer line replacement project.
    • Discussed cooperative efforts between the City of Olney and the Richland County Farm and Fair Association regarding reorganizing the fairgrounds in City Park.
  • Executive Session & Additional Decisions:
    • Approved an ordinance establishing wages for non-bargaining city employees.
    • Opted out of participation in the Electric Aggregation program for fiscal year 2025.
