OLNEY CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING – MARCH 10, 2025

The Olney City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting, addressing key financial, infrastructure, and budgetary matters.

Meeting Highlights:

  • Financial Approvals:
    • Approved the payment of all bills as presented.
    • Approved a $5,000 tourism grant for the 2025 White Squirrel Bluegrass Festival, scheduled for September 6th.
  • Budget & Purchases:
    • Increased the Olney Public Library’s utility budget by $2,400.
    • Approved the purchase of a $33,000 pickup truck for the City’s Water Department.
  • Infrastructure & Development:
    • Accepted the water and sewer improvements in the Northfield Subdivision.
    • Approved a payment request for work on the Main Street Storm Sewer Project.
  • Parking & Real Estate:
    • Agreed not to renew the lease for the downtown municipal parking lot north of the Courthouse.
    • After an executive session on real estate and personnel, approved putting a 6-acre tract along Herman Drive (at the south edge of town) up for sale.
  • Other Approvals:
    • Approved a raffle license permit as requested.
    • Reviewed various funds for the proposed 2026 fiscal year budget.
