REGIONAL WEATHER DISCUSSION (01/15/2024)

(OLNEY/NEWTON) The dangerously cold weather conditions will continue to hang around today through tonight and tomorrow, with wind chill values over the next 48 hours staying below zero. Even with some sunshine on tap tomorrow for our downstate area, we won’t warm up any until Wednesday and Thursday. However, the slight warm up is short-lived, with more bitterly cold weather returning for Friday and the weekend ahead. Stay tuned for updates and always monitor a local NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more forecast details.

(OLNEY) By the way, if you’re wondering about any record low temperatures being broken over the past few days and nights. Well, the numbers weren’t even close. The record lows at the official National Weather Service WVLN-WSEI Studio’s Weather Station, at the south edge of Olney, are -18 degrees for Saturday’s date, January 13th, back in 1918, -12 degrees for yesterday’s date, January 14th, back in 1893, and -12 for today’s date, January 15th, back in 1893. Our official lows have been -3 degrees yesterday and -2 degrees for this Monday.
