(OLNEY/NEWTON) As an upper level weather trof helps push a weak cold front through our downstate area today, we’ll see some clouds mixed with mostly sunshine, however there is a slight chance of some isolated showers and possible thunderstorms on this Wednesday, although no severe weather is anticipated. A high pressure ridge will settle near the Upper Midwest tonight, keeping a frontral boundary south of Illinois. After a little cool air is in place today and tomorrow, we’ll heat back up with dry skies over the weekend. Stay tuned for weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for forecast details.
(NEWTON/OLNEY) Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon’s weather included thunderstorm activity for most of our area counties. With rainfall amounts averaging around one inch, there were areas that received two to three inches of rain in a matter of minutes, plus some locations with four to five inches of rain. The storms also include some small hail and some dangerous lightning as well. Other than flash flooding, there was no damage or injuries.
