REGIONAL WEATHER OUTLOOK / NEW RECORD

(OLNEY/NEWTON) As a warm front draped across central Illinois is pushed away by an approaching low pressure system, we’ll have rain and thunderstorm chances later today in our downstate area. And as the cold front associated with this weather system moves through Illinois later tonight, the rain will end, the wind will switch, and some colder air returns to our weekend forecast, all to be followed by a high pressure ridge early next week. Stay tuned for updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather information and forecast details.

(OLNEY) Here at the WVLN-WSEI National Weather Service official weather station for Olney and Richland County, we had a new record high temperature set yesterday afternoon. The 73 degrees reading broke the previous record of 72 degrees which was originally set 78 years ago in 1948, then hit as a high temperature again on February 18th, thirteen years later, in 1961.
