(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : on a 4 to 1 vote, approved a Bathroom Project to be located near the Pickleball Complex at Musgrove Park – the City’s share of the estimated $163,833 work will be 40%, at $65,500 : on a 4-0 vote, with one abstention, approved the annual contribution of $20,000 to the Olney & Greater Richland County Chamber of Commerce : also on a 4-0 vote, with one abstention, approved a Class SNP Liquor License for the Chamber’s Squirrel Sounds 2026 event : approved the purchase of a 2024 pickup truck with an $8,400 purchase of a snow plow attachment : approved a Crop Share Farm Lease for 5 to 6 acres in the West Industrial Park : approved an ordinance to amend the City of Olney Municipal Code to prohibit the use and sale of synthetic alternative drugs such as Kratom, except as otherwise described by the State of Illinois : approved the waiver of ball field use fees and insurance requirements for a fundraiser using three softball fields in Musgrove Park : approved two raffle license requests as submitted : noted the storm sewer project in the Eastgate Subdivision is underway and no action after an executive session to discuss real property, personnel, and negotiations : the next regular meeting for the Olney City Council will be March 23rd, 2026.
