REGULAR MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT

(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : heard an update on the property at 701 North Silver Street : agreed to amend Title 13 for public services within the City of Olney’s Municipal Code : heard an update on JEDS (Joint Dispatch) budget : agreed to transfer money from the Tourism Fund and Christmas Lights Display Fund back to the General Corporate Fund ($15,000) : agreed to sell one old riding mower and to scrap out another riding mower : accepted the quote to purchase a boiler valve for repairs at the City’s Sewer Plant : approved a Purchase Request Requirement for certain purchases : noted that work will resume on the Elliott Street Bridge project and that work will begin on the East Street Bridge project, both by the end of March : noted that the City of Olney’s “Snow Emergency” was lifted as of Monday : and after a closed session to discuss personnel, real property, and negotiations, approved the appointment of City employee Jeremy Thomas as the City’s new Supervisor of Parks Department, retroactive to January 5th, 2026, with the position’s wage also established and approved : the Olney City Council’s next regular bi-monthly meeting will be held February 9th, 2026, at the Olney City Hall.
