(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all accounts payable as presented : following the results of a non-binding question on the March 17th primary ballot, the Council voted 3 to 2 to prohibit cannabis dispensaries within the City of Olney – the tentative action will likely be followed by official Council action at the next regular meeting : in other business, the Council approved the $17,200 purchase of a 2016 pickup truck from Eagleson’s Automotive Center : agreed to sell a City riding mower from the Water Department on govdeals.com : approved the various chemical bids for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Water Plant, and the Musgrove Aquatic Center, all as presented : amended the City’s Sewer, Water Distribution, and Administrative Departments’ budgets to fulfill the City’s obligations to its Housing Development Assistance Program : noted that the sewer line improvements in Eastgate Subdivision will be completed this week : noted that renovation work on the East Street Bridge project will begin next Monday with the bridge closed from South Street to North Avenue for at least the following eight weeks : also noted that improvement work on the Elliott Street Bridge will get started next week as well and will be closed between North Avenue and South Street for at least two weeks : after an executive session to discuss real property, negotiations, and personnel, the Council approved a resolution authorizing an Engineering Services Agreement with Brandon Charleston and Charleston Engineering, Inc., as the City Engineer : also approved Health Insurance Premium Allocations for Non-Bargaining Employees : the Olney City Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting is April 13th, 2026.
